Vocabularius dictus Lactifer IV (De monstruosis hominibus)

Vocabularius dictus Lactifer is a Latin Bohemian vocabulary, one of the first Bohemical prints (printed in Plzen in 1511). The 4th book on human monsters (De monstruosis hominibus) and the 8th book on stones (De lapidibus) are inspired by the Ancient and Medieval authors (Pliny, Isidor of Sevilla, Thomas of Cantimpré et al.).

Clement of Alexandria and Alexandrian Christianity of the 2nd and 3rd centuries

Following the publication of Stromata I-III in 2004 and 2006, we will submit a Czech translation of the remaining parts of Clement's work (books IV-VIII) with notes and introductions to individual volumes. The last volume will include the commented translation of Hypotyposeis and selected fragments. In separately published essays we will discuss various philosophical and literary-historical aspects of Clement’s thought.

The project deals with the theological-philosophical concept of God as ipsum esse in ancient and medieval philosophy with a view to Thomas Aquinas and his ancient sources. The main attention will be paid to so far untutored question, to what extent was Aquinas influenced by a specific tradition going back to The Anonymous Commentary to Plato's Parmenides from the Turin Palimpsest, and the theological work of Marius Victorinus.
